We have everything we need
Who is Rosie?
Aunt Rosie is my mother’s aunt and grandmother’s big sister. She holds a special place in my family’s heart as she taught us many lessons and helped us in ways that lasted lifetimes. I never met my Aunt Rosie, but I feel that I know her. I appreciate seeing how my mom would smile when she reflected on moments with her. She created a space of protection, love, acceptance, and insight.
I’m thankful, Aunt Rosie
Rosie’s Table’s Mission
Provide evidence based mental health counseling that is grounded and guided by continuous study of Pan-African Traditional culture. Thus, supporting the overall wellbeing of African descendants in Baltimore City.
Rosie’s Table’s Vision
To create a space where people of African descent in Baltimore City can learn the connection between traditional African culture and mental health in a manner that psychologically empowers the individual and community.
What does it mean to be guided by Pan-African traditional culture? How is this used in counseling?
Pan-Africanism acknowledges the collective wisdom that connects all cultural groups in Africa. Thus, we are encouraged to learn about our birthright and reclaim the wisdom that supports each other's healing.
Self-exploration from the Pan-African traditional perspective affirms self-respect, community, and the use of our intuition. Working together, I will create a space where it’s okay to take our time. Encouraging you to honor and understand your internal world. And as we set on this journey together, I will use proverbs, historical knowledge, your intuition, and evidence based interventions, to help guide us towards the mental clarity, self-love, and self-empowerment you envision.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my work. I look forward to working with you.
Medaase,
(Thank you in the Twi language of Ghana)
